After the News-Leader finally fixed their website mistake, which linked to the old story about Coach McTague being hired at Glendale. We can all read the important story in Friday's edition of the News-Leader addressing Glendale Basketball. (Link below)
We have the best winning percentage out of the other five boys basketball programs in Springfield and lead most of the other boys basketball programs in southwest Missouri. However, we've never won or even played for a state championship. This is something I hope Coach McTague attempts to correct during his time as head coach. Oh, don't let anyone tell you we haven't been good enough as a reason why we haven't. WE'VE BEEN PLENTY GOOD ENOUGH to win the big one. We just need to DO IT! Also, Glendale's facilities are WAY BEHIND other Class 5 (and even Class 4 & Class 3) schools in southwest Missouri. We have a main gym that only seats 1,200, which is fine for 70% of regular season games. But we weren't able to host the district tournament in 2012, because the capacity was an issue with Branson, Ozark, Nixa, and Kickapoo being in the district with us. Our kids DESERVE to have home court advantage come post-season play when it's their time to host the district tourney. In addition, unlike 99% of other practice or auxiliary gyms built in recent decades, the one at Glendale doesn't have bleachers. Therefore, Glendale can't have freshman games at the same time a girls varsity game is being played in the main gym or host summer shootouts and team camps. Glendale has major basketball/wrestling/volleyball facility issues and I'm glad this was mentioned in the story as well.
